Ad: ‘Perform this work and I’ll bury you’

In this economy, bartering is back in style — not the best news when you’ve only got caskets to trade.

New York City funeral director Peter Dohanich recently put an ad on Craigslist looking for a contractor to perform repairs and add a sitting room to his apartment.

One catch: Dohanich is a little short on cash. In exchange for the additions, he’ll provide a full funeral for the lucky contractor, including burial or cremation, embalming, a casket, viewing and church services, and transportation for both the deceased and his or her loved ones.

So far, no one’s bit on the offer. The funeral director admits some people have said his ad was morbid, but Dohanich claims “it’s savvy, not spooky.”

I would think contractors would be dying to take him up on the offer……

  2. Becky Says:

That would seal the deal for me. No dishing dirt on my boss!

Actually, one of my best friends is a mortician and owns a mortuary. Funerals today are very expensive and so I find this could be a very good deal for someone. And although there is a lot of funeral humor to go around, no one has ever gotten out of this life alive.

It seems like a reasonable offer and will likely get a positive response in time. Maybe someone will take him up on it and sub-out the work. A good sign of the times.

I rather have one freebie where I can use it on anyone including myself. This way, I have the possiblity of just charging another with my freebie, and set up an account with actual funds in it for my death.
