Company to laid-off: Want to work overseas?

One upside to being terminated from your current position: Your company may offer you a different job — in another country.
Employees being laid off in IBM’s latest reduction-in-force are finding they have an alternative to the unemployment line. U.S. and Canadian workers can choose to land an IBM job in a number of foreign countries.
Through its “Project Match” program, IBM will allow “satisfied performers” who are “willing to work on local terms and conditions” to pursue the jobs in locations like Brazil, China, India, Nigeria, Romania, Russia, Slovakia and South Africa, among others.
The company has yet to confirm if ex-U.S. workers who go abroad will be paid local wages or be subject to local labor laws.
Never thought anything could be worse than a company offshoring its work? How about a company offshoring its entire workforce?

Makes sense. With restrictive federal regulations and the government’s notion that every worker deserves $40/hour with no personal responsibility, I don’t blame companies at all.
