The coolest thing about employee engagement: It’s contagious

Two new studies, both from Gallup, show what it takes to boost employees’ well being at your firm.

In the first study, researchers discovered that engagement – whether or not employees were passionate about their work and felt connected to the company – has more of an effect on staffer well being than hours worked or weeks of vacation taken.

So why should firms care about well being in the first place? Because it’s contagious.

The second study found that workers and supervisors whose well being was thriving had colleagues who reported the same thing six months later.

Perhaps not surprisingly, employees with flextime had the strongest relationship to overall well being.

The finding’s just more proof that flextime and telecommuting are becoming some of the most sought-after incentives.
