Hiring hike expected: Where companies will look for talent

Finally, a glimmer of good news about the labor market:

More than 40% of companies say they expect to increase hiring in the later part of the year, according to a recent survey conducted by StandoutJobs and PBP Media.

But companies won’t be relying on online job boards as much as they have in the past to find candidates. In fact, 43% said they’ll be cutting spending in that area.

How do companies plan on finding qualified candidates? Other findings:

  • nearly one in four said they’d place more emphasis on employee referrals, and
  • about half said they thought increased use of social networks could improve their recruiting efforts.
