Looking good: HR cited as one of the best jobs in U.S.

Congratulations. Not only has HR been mentioned as one of the best business environments to work in, it looks like your skills will be in even greater demand over the next several years.

The job of HR Specialist is among the Top 25 Jobs of 2012, according to U.S. News and World Report.

Phillip Moeller, writing on the U.S. News website, cites Labor Department stats that say the number of HR specialist positions will have grown by a little over 28% in the years 2010-2020.

“This is expected to be a rapid-growth field as the economy continues to recover from the recession,” Moeller says.

Other highlights of your job forecast:

The median annual salary for an HR specialist in 2011 was $54,160, according to the DOL. The best-paid 10% made an average of $89,490; the lowest-paid 10%  were paid an average of $31,110.

Highest paying industries: The executive branch of the U.S. government,  oil and gas extraction industries, and electric power companies.
