(More) funny statements in performance reviews
December 30, 2009 by Jim GiulianoPosted in: Communication, In this week's e-newsletter, Latest News & Views, Performance appraisals
We’re not recommending that you use any of these in reviews you give. But you’re going to have a hard time resisting the temptation.
These were pulled by Business Management Daily from actual performance reviews given to federal employees:
- “She has delusions of adequacy.”
- “I wouldn’t allow this employee to breed.”
- “He would argue with a signpost.”
- “When his IQ reaches 50, he should sell.”
- “He brings a lot of joy when he leaves the room.”
- “If he were any more stupid, he’d have to be watered.”

I love them all! hahaha! I can honestly say I have had these thoughts about some of our “X” employees. Of course I guess the comments could apply to the reviewer also since they actually WROTE these down on paper! Leave it up to our government to set the rules and then not follow them!

My wife received a statement on a Performance Review from a hospital, where she is a nurse, that said, she was “excessively happy”. This was meant as a deragatory statement.

Individuals who comment that others are “too happy” are usually insecure people who resent the fact that somone else is not miserable like them. As I do wear my “happy mask” to work, I’ve heard it before, and it was also meant to be derogatory.

Oh, these were hilarious! Just Exactly what I needed! There were SO MANY I’ve wanted tp say but couldn’t gather the balls to put them on paper! ….the birds fly upside down when they pass over this guy. … my paperweight does a better job. …my three year old has more common sense. …this employee suffers from “draggin’ ass” disease; I believe it is incurable & irreversible.
