New employment law help from DOL

The Department of Labor has released an updated online resource to help answer HR’s tough legal questions.

The DOL recently updated its Employment Law Guide, giving employers new information regarding the laws the agency enforces.

The new version includes info on recent legal developments, such as minimum wage increases and updates to the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). Other topics covered include child labor laws, overtime payment and workplace safety regulations.

I have people that are on unemployment wanted to use my agency to see if they can find a job or try recruiting and see if they can make a living at it. They don’t want a salary just an opportunity to do either or both. Can they collect unemployment if they aren’t employed but use our services to find themself a job or try to train to be a counselor on no pay?
