There’s a long-standing assumption among employers that employees dislike training sessions — and will do almost anything to avoid them. Now there’s evidence that the exact opposite is true.
The proof: Over 90% of employees view job training and development as vital.
That’s according to a new survey from talent development firm Lee Hecht Harrison.
Helpful for retention, engagement
Just over 5% of employees saw training and development as duty, while a paltry 3% saw it as a hindrance.
In reality, it seems that most workers view additional training as a chance build new skill sets that can prove invaluable down the line.
That’s especially true given changes in technology and competition.
Researchers also mentioned additional benefits of ongoing training and development, including better retention and engagement numbers.
Tough to argue with that.
