Two owners of a Bellingham, WA, company were hit with a $100,000 fine and a year’s probation for hiring illegal immigrants. The owners of the company — Yamato Engine Specialists 1990 Ltd. — pleaded guilty to the charge in Federal District Court.
In a more-than-symbolic gesture, the feds prosecuted Yamato, the first workplace to be raided by immigration agents after President Obama took office and called for less emphasis on prosecuting illegal immigrants and more on prosecuting the businesses that hire them.
