Sometimes, jobs that deal with the public are thankless. That’s anything but the case for a waitress in Illinois.
Michelle Secreto thought the couple who left her a large tip at the Montarra Grill in Algonquin were joking.
But they really meant to leave her the $1,000 tip. It was a 667% tip on a bill that came to $150.
Secreto isn’t sure what it was exactly that prompted the huge tip. She told the Daily Herald that she had recommended two entrees and she made two suggestions.
Secreto can’t write to the couple to thank them. A name and address don’t show up on the restaurant’s copy of the credit card receipt and the signature isn’t readable.
Nevertheless, the money comes at a great time for Secreto. Her daughter needed $1,900 to pay for a school trip to Washington, DC. They had saved $900, and the tip will cover the rest of the costs.
Big reward for job well done wasn't a blunder
