A member of the Norwegian parliament has quit over calling fortune-tellers from her government phone.
Sarah Khaen spent several hundred thousand Norwegian kroner on the calls in recent years, the newspaper Verdens Gang reported.
In a three-month period, her phone bill came to 48,000 kroner — about $8,100 U.S. dollars. At that rate, her annual phone bill would be more than $32,000.
The newspaper reported her calls became so frequent that many fortune-tellers told her to stop calling.
Now, Khaen says she won’t seek re-election.
She denied the story for a long time, but now the politician has released a statement admitting that “a large part” of her expenses have been spent on “conversations with psychics.”
Kahen says she regrets her actions and will repay the government.
