File this one under, “How many times do I have to tell them about … ?” The answer, when it comes to admonitions against skimpy clothing, is “every year.”
Do you have workers who think the “casual” in “Casual Friday” gives them license to show too much skin at work?
Or maybe they mark the upcoming Memorial Day weekend by not remembering to wear enough clothes.
Whatever the reason, they need to know the song, June is Busting Out All Over, doesn’t refer to their workplace wardrobe during that summer month.
Well, HR pros of the world unite! It’s just not U.S. companies that face the annual horror of co-workers thinking their beach vacation (and beachwear) started in the office.
Civil servants in Serbia have been told they can’t wear, “dispropotionately short skirts, tops with revealing decolletage or narrow straps, short of see-through blouses, and short pants” to work, according to wire service reports.
It’s just not appropriate dress that Serbia government HR had to deal with. A recent memo also reminds the civil servants to “act professionally and kindly, provide true and timely information (and) respect citizens’ personality and dignity.”
So, next time you have to remind workers about appropriate dress, especially for summer months, just remember that you’ve got cohorts in Serbia facing the same challenge. (What do you mean that doesn’t help?)
Dress codes: How do you spell "decolletage"?
