Why are top performers so hard to find? Ease your recruiting woes with some easy-to-read tips from this infographic.
The folks over at Jobvite have compiled info on how the best companies land those A-list players.
Among other things, Jobvite’s tips include the following:

  1. Social networks are key. Several years ago, social media recruiting was made out to be HR’s new best way to find top performers.
And while it hasn’t completely taken over for more traditional recruiting methods, looking for candidates on Facebook and LinkedIn is still a viable tool, especially for those applicants who aren’t necessary actively searching for their dream gig.
In fact, one out of every six people hired in 2012 credited social media with finding their current jobs.
Where are those people spending their time on social media? Facebook (52%), LinkedIn (38%) and Twitter (34%).
  2. Find the right skills. Duh: The best performers have the best skills, so all you have to do is find them, right?
Yes — but it’s not easy.
In fact, many companies are seeing a skills shortage, which can lead to lower productivity and efficiency.
The keys to get around that: Act fast. HR or hiring managers (or both) need to have their finger on the pulse of the job market and keep an eye out everyday for interested people.
Another reason you might be having trouble finding people with the right skill sets: They’ve already been hired and are working somewhere else — maybe at your competitors.
If that’s the case, don’t be afraid to reach out to people to gauge their interest in having a discussion with you about their careers.
  3. Use engaging communication techniques. When you do reach out to people you think might be good candidates, it’s crucial to frame your communication in the right way.
After all, especially if you’re the one doing the reaching out, you don’t want to come off as overanxious or undersell your company or the position available.
For the best results, ensure that all of your communications are:

    1. targeted
    2. consistent
    3. creative
    4. relevant, and
    5. urgent.
