Heads up: It’s time to start accepting the new U.S. passport card as identification for I-9 forms.
The feds recently started issuing the cards as a cheaper alternative to the traditional passport booklets (They’re only valid for travel to and from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Bermuda).
Now, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has just announced the document may accepted for I-9 purposes.
Like the regular passport, the card is a “List A” document, meaning it verifies both work authorization and identity.
