Another state has joined the trend of allowing employees to keep guns in the parking lot at work.
Last month, Louisiana passed legislation similar to controversial laws in Florida and Georgia. It prohibits employers from making policies against workers storing guns in locked cars while they’re at work.
It does give companies a little more leeway than other states’, though. Louisiana employers can mandate that guns be kept hidden from plain sight or locked in a container inside the car.
Also, the law doesn’t apply if parking lots are fenced off, guarded by security or otherwise restrict general public access, and employers are allowed to create an alternate parking area where cars with guns must be kept.
More states are considering similar bills (Arizona and Tennessee, for example). We’ll keep you posted as the trend progresses.
