Turns out an open can of beer isn’t acceptable equipment for someone snowplowing streets in Montreal, Canada.
The city has fired one of its veteran workers after police pulled over a snowplow and found an open beer can inside.
Police stopped the plow after receiving a tip.
When they found the open beer, they gave the driver a breathalyzer test which he passed.
However, he was still in violation of the open container law and received a $438 fine.
The city suspended the worker, and then the borough council of Ville-Marie voted unanimously to fire him.
The city has fired other municipal workers for drinking while using city equipment over the years, according to CBC News.
The union and the borough are negotiating the terms of his dismissal.
