Though the sight of a male co-worker’s face superimposed over a swimsuit model’s body might be described as “priceless,” the real cost is apparently $400,000.
That’s the amount a police department in Massachusetts had to pay a former cop after a sexual harassment suit went before a jury.
The center of the case: A picture of a scantily clad bikini model, with the man’s face superimposed over hers. Apparently, some of his fellow cops had produced the images and posted them around police headquarters.
And, the man claimed, when he told his superiors about the conduct, they didn’t do anything to stop it. So the department was found liable for harassment.
The lesson they learned: Take complaints seriously. Even if it sounds like a lot of fun and games.
