Skeptical whether your wellness program is as effective as it should be? Then this may be the kick in the pants it needs.
A new wellness website, whenwellnesssucks.com, reveals some of the tell-tale signs a wellness program … well … doesn’t work that well. And it offers guidance on how to turn an ailing program around.
The site includes two things any wellness skeptic will love:
- A video that mirrors NBC’s hit TV show “The Office,” which features a Michael Scott-esque manager who’s in charge of his company’s dysfunctional wellness program. This video’s loaded with wellness stereotypes, like the sickly 20-something girl (who turns out to be on drugs) wins the company’s weight-loss contest and the gimmicky health food beverage that makes everyone in the office ill.
- A brief quiz designed to tell you just how much — or how little — your company wellness program sucks. It also offers advice on what you can do to improve your program.
Warning: This site isn’t for those who take their wellness programs too seriously. But it’s good for a few laughs and offerings some practical advice.
The site is the brainchild of the Portland-based wellness company, Recess. But fear not, it dishes up almost no mention of the company, and it doesn’t ask for any personal info to watch the video or take the quiz.
