If your company’s on the fence about hiring any of the 2010 crop of college graduates, consider this: They’ll be less expensive than last year’s vintage.
According to research from the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), the average salary of this year’s recipient of a Bachelor’s degree will be down 1.7% — to $47,673. That number was $48,515 last year.
The hardest hit: Liberal Arts majors. NACE says they’re looking at an 8.9% decrease this year.
The picture isn’t so dim for everybody. The average pay for students graduating with computer-related degrees will see starting salaries 5.8% higher than last year, according to NACE.
