As Baby Boomers near retirement age, and many indicate they don’t want to leave work, HR directors are finding the value of these older workers. As more proof that those considered senior citizens have the right stuff, consider this story about a 65-year-old bull fighter in Spain.
Frank Evans, a British citizen, left retirement behind and returned to the ring recently winning two trophies — the ears of the bull he’d just slain.
Evans’ comeback isn’t just about age: He’s also a survivor of quadruple bypass and knee replacement surgeries.
“For me it (his return) confirms to all these doubters that I am fit enough to do this,” Evans said.
Most bullfighters are in the 20s and 30s and retire in their 50s. Few have fought well into their 60s.
However, to Evans, “Age is just a number.”
