Fighting in the cheese factory is an equal-opportunity offense.
That’s the conclusion we’re drawing from a recent Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission ruling that Rosalind Brown was wrongfully fired after she got into a fight at the Dairy Farmers of America cheese-making plant in West Middlesex.
Why was it wrong to fire her (and the woman she was fighting with)?
Because two men who got into a similar altercation — one clocked the other with a 20-pound chunk of cheese — only received three-day suspensions.
The commission agreed with Brown’s bias claim.
The company was ordered to pay Brown nearly $39,000 in back pay and interest.
