Tired of hearing how unhappy employees are? Here’s a survey that says overall, employees are reasonably satisfied with their lot in life.
More than eight in 10 (82%) of participants in a recent poll said they’re satisfied with their jobs. And 80% said they found satisfaction in their day-to-day work.
Enjoyable work, the boss’ respect
The research was conducted by StrategyOne, a polling and management consulting firm. A total of 613 full- and part-time workers participated.
Other positive findings:
- 72% said they enjoyed their work and looked forward to coming in every day
- 83% said they felt their boss respected them
- 74% said their co-workers were one of the best things about where they work, and
- 63% said they didn’t feel they were underemployed.
OK, the results weren’t totally positive. Just over two-thirds (64%) of respondents said they probably won’t ever be able to retire.
On the other hand, employees seem to feel pretty good about job security. Almost six in 10 said they weren’t worried about being laid off.
