It’s not everything, but money still matters when people decide to change jobs. How much does it take to convince a candidate to switch to your side?
According to a recent survey by Salary.com, more than a third of employees said they’d change jobs for a salary increase between 16% and 30%. A third said it’d only take something in the 8% to 15% range. One in six would want between 31% and 50%.
It’s important that the survey data is self-reported by employees, so the accuracy is debatable.
That’s not great news for recruiters who’d like to lure candidates away from their current employers. But the survey also said that behind salary, the second most common reason for leaving a job was a lack of advancement opportunities. In other words, stressing a job’s room for growth is a good recruiting tool that doesn’t take any extra money.
Money talks – but how much does it take?
