When new employees start, helping them set up their voicemail box is just one of the usual housekeeping things that needs to be done.
If someone forgets to record the new person’s name on the extension, callers may hear the name of an employee who is no longer at your company.
That’s exactly what happened with this year’s turnover of Ireland’s government.
Three months after Prime Minister Brian Cowen took office, callers to the prime minister’s office were still being redirected to the previous incumbent.
“Thank you for calling the office of the [prime minister], however, if you wish to call Bertie Ahem’s office, please ring … ” the recording said.
It seems like this is taking the political tradition of blaming problems on a previous administration a step too far.
