The anonymous note posted in a public place meant for everyone to read: It’s a workplace tradition. And in the camera phone and Internet age, it’s now possible to share these notes with the whole world.
You’ve seen these notes (most of them occur in company kitchens and break rooms).
“Please clean the microwave after use.” “Please discard old food in refrigerator.” “Don’t be a slob, clean up after yourself.”
Those are typical. But what happens when people get creative with these notes? They’re just too good to keep to yourself.
Well, now employees can share them with the whole world via www.passiveaggressivenotes.com.
Initially, we were drawn to this site by a series of notes left on a workplace soda machine. The first one requested more bottled water. Soon a debate over free tap vs. bottled water ensued. This was at the anthropology department at the University of Arizona.
True, some posts aren’t from the workplace. But many are workplace oriented.
Another recent post includes a request not to cook “ethnic” food in the workplace kitchen because the odors wafted to a nearby office. The reply, of course, asks where else food should be cooked other than the kitchen.
Passive-aggressive employees? Share it on the Web
