You’ve got to wonder whether someone in HR at Qantas airlines is in big trouble for not properly checking a potential employee’s credentials.
Timothy McCormack was recently sentenced to the maximum of three years and five months in prison for lying about his qualifications to perform maintenance checks on Qantas jets. He could be paroled in two years.
McCormack conducted 30 maintenance checks on planes leaving Sydney, Australia, that he wasn’t licensed to perform, according to The Sydney Morning Herald.
Those inspections put up to 12,000 passengers in danger.
McCormack pleaded guilty to 42 charges, including forging a maintenance engineer’s license.
Here’s the best part: Even after pleading guilty, apparently, he couldn’t stop lying.
He faked four character references he gave to the court before his sentencing.
