Employees should be able to occasionally reconsider decisions they make at work without fear. But what if they change their minds just because they’re under pressure from others?
Vietnamese soccer referee Nguyen Xuan Hoa awarded a goal to the Dong Tam Long soccer team in a match and then changed his mind after the opposing Danang team walked off the field.
Danang returned to the field and won the match 3-2.
Hoa insisted to the soccer federation’s disciplinary committee that no one had influenced his decision, according to a Vietnamese newspaper.
However, he was suspended for four matches, and his assistants were banned for three for failing to mention the incident in their reports.
Danang’s coach was fined almost $500 and banned for four games for interrupting the match with the walkout.
