Once thought to be an option for only giant companies, HR software is becoming more available to small and mid-size businesses.
One reason Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) have become more popular to smaller companies: the rise in popularity of Software as a Service (SaaS).
SaaS is a software delivery model in which companies pay a subscription fee to use an application, rather than buy the software and install it themselves. The application is hosted by the vendor and accessed online.
That means companies don’t have to pay huge upfront costs for HR systems or have the IT infrastructure needed to maintain and support the application.
Some companies also offer scalable HRIS systems, for which companies pay in part based on the number of employees they have.
All that adds up to more affordable systems, tailor-made for small and mid-size businesses.
Does your company use an HRIS? If so, how have you benefited? If not, what are your reasons?
