More than three quarters of companies worldwide use social networks for business purposes — and more than four in 10 have have problems with employees misusing the sites.
That’s the upshot of a recent survey by the law firm Proskauer Rose.
The firm polled 120 companies and found that 76% use sites like LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter as business tools.
All that activity comes with a price, however. Forty-three percent said social media network misuse had been a problem — and 31.3% said they’d disciplined workers for unacceptable behavior on the sites.
One surprising finding: Despite the widespread use of social media by companies, the survey found that nearly 45% of the participants had no formal social media policy.
