One-third of all employers are missing this prime opportunity to increase their value in the eyes of today’s workers.
The vast majority of U.S. workers (83%) think more highly of employers that offer voluntary insurance benefits than those that don’t.
Unfortunately, 33% of employees say their company doesn’t offer these benefits.
Those findings come from a survey of 2,500 working Americans over the age of 18 conducted for the insurer WellPoint, Inc.

One finding that may surprise some companies: Prospective employees value voluntary benefits even more than existing employees.
Nearly 90% of prospective employees say that when it comes to accepting a new job it’s important companies offer them a full range of health benefits — including voluntary. And nearly half of those respondents called voluntary benefits “very important” when deciding whether to take a job.
Another reason why your company may want to look into bolstering its voluntary benefits offerings: 67% of workers said that their productivity would increase if their employers provided such benefits.
In addition, employees’ satisfaction rate with the benefits they’re offered at work was 30% higher among those who had access to voluntary benefits.
