Imagine if only 28% of the people who applied to your company were actually qualified. Talk about an HR nightmare. Well, that’s the case for the U.S. military.
Slightly less than three out of 10 people between the ages of 17 and 24 qualify.
Reason for the ineligibility of the other 72%? They didn’t graduate from high school, have a police record or are not physically fit, according to a report by CBS News.
As far as physical fitness goes, the report says many schools don’t provide gym class anymore as many of us remember it.
Others blame video games for teens’ lack of physical activity.
High school drop out rates don’t help the situation. Every 26 seconds in the U.S., a young person drops out of high school.
