Just how important is proper attire in the workplace? Not too important, if the story of one police officer is any indication.
True or false? When employees dress professionally, they’re more likely to act professionally on the job.
Proper attire didn’t appear to matter when a New Zealand police officer made an arrest recently.
In fact, the unnamed officer wasn’t wearing anything at all when he collared a criminal, according to wire service reports.
The policeman was asleep in his home when his wife woke him. She’d heard a noise.
The officer soon realized the noise was someone trying to start his car.
He burst out of his house, naked, carrying a torch.
That was enough to scare off the failed car thief, who was caught a short-time later by more traditionally clothed officers.
And that seems like a reasonable reaction to us. What would you do if, suddenly, a naked man was running toward you with a torch, yelling, “Stop! Police!”?
What’s a police officer without his badge – or any clothes, for that matter?
