Ever wonder why candidates say non-monetary benefits matter, but turn down offers because they can get more pay somewhere else?
Recruiting expert Dave Szary might have an answer.
He says recruiters and candidates discuss things like upward mobility, learning opportunities and other soft benefits often during the hiring process.
But when the offer’s made, the recruiter explains base salary, bonuses, health coverage, etc. — and nothing else.
Instead, Szary recommends incorporating non-monetary benefits in the offer. It helps if there are some tangible things to mention, like specific training programs your company offers or potential jobs the candidate might be promoted to.
That may help keep candidates focused on why they considered leaving their current jobs in the first place.
