April Ries, VP of Clinical Operations, Accolade
An energetic and compassionate leader, April Ries helps ensure we deliver upon Accolade Expert MD’s brand promise of speed, best-in-class customer service, and high-quality clinical support. As Vice President of Clinical Operations, April leads a broad team overseeing the quality delivery of Accolade’s virtual expert opinion from the front line dedicated nurses who help members navigate their health care journey to the specialist team who identify, curate, and serve our expert panel. With 15 years of nursing experience, she understands the value of thinking quickly and acting efficiently in service of our members.
Prior to joining Accolade Expert MD (historically 2nd.MD) April served as a pediatric nurse at a level 1 trauma center. From this environment, April saw first hand the real need for families to access world class experts that can guide them and their loved ones through life altering health conditions. She also spent several years as the director of a remote health center. While there, April directed the clinical program comprised of doctors nurses and supported the team to handle urgent issues. This foundation helped nurture her interest in advocating for our members and creating a culture where second opinions and expert advice should be available to every household.
April graduated with honors from Texas Tech University and was nominated as one of Houston’s Top 100 nurses in 2016. April now resides in Denver with her husband, Kyle, and three children. April & Kyle love kids and they have spent many summers serving children at an outdoor sports and adventure camp over the past 20 years.
Morgan McHugh, VP of Customer Sales, Accolade
Morgan McHugh works with Accolade’s largest and most strategic customers to understand their Total Rewards strategy and needs. Morgan ensures customers understand Accolade’s multiple solutions, how those solutions can support strategy and how to take advantage of Accolade’s trusted ecosystem partners.
Prior to her current role, Morgan was Vice President of Customer Success for Accolade’s Enterprise and Expert Medical Opinion (2nd.MD) customers. She has extensive experience working with large market employers and health care organizations and a track record of shaping the direction of businesses to meet customer needs. With a deep understanding of the U.S. healthcare landscape and the challenge it creates for consumers, Morgan is committed to representing solutions and products that make a real impact on the lives of everyday people.
Prior to joining Accolade, Morgan was an Executive at 2nd.MD for 5 years and built the Client Success and Implementation segments of the 2nd.MD business. Before joining 2nd.MD, Morgan began her career at WTW where she spent 6+ years as a Communication and Change Management consultant.
Morgan holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Psychology from The University of Georgia and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Rice University.
Erin Hirshorn, VP of Case Management, Accolade
Erin serves as Vice President of Case Management and has worked at Accolade for over 10 years in various operational roles. Her roles have included clinically supporting members directly as well as leading multiple teams, as well as working directly with our customers to develop clinical solutions and to understand our clinical operations. In her current role, Erin is responsible for leading multiple case management teams and working interdepartmentally to achieve expected outcomes. She serves as the voice of clinical operations for her internal and external partners. Prior to Accolade, Erin worked at a trauma hospital as a Registered Nurse, Progressive Care Certified Nurse, specializing in cardiac and stroke care, while also working per-diem as a Nursing Supervisor. Prior to her nursing career Erin has over 10 years’ experience working in the insurance industry as well as in recruiting and sales. Erin attended Immaculata University, where she graduated Summa cum laude with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
