With more Benefits pros relying on technology to get info to workers, it’s easy for those without regular access to e-mail or the Internet to get left in the dark.
Simply giving non-wired workers access to computer kiosks may be good enough to satisfy Uncle Sam’s requirements, but it won’t ensure your workers stay informed.
Here are three ways to make sure your entire workforce gets all of the Benefits into it needs.
1. Provide learning aids
If your company gives employees — who don’t perform their regular work on a computer — access to computer kiosks, it’s a step in the right direction. The problem is, if you have older, less tech-savvy workers, they may feel too intimidated to use the kiosks — or they may not know how.
Solution: Place highly visible, step-by-step instructions at every kiosk that direct employees to the info they need.
2. Get tech-savvy workers to help
Got a bunch of technologically challenged workers at your facility? Try getting some of your younger, more tech-savvy employees to work with them.
Example: if you have a new wellness program in place, “plugged-in” workers can sum up all of the components and benefits of the program.
Added benefit: This move brings together employees who may not get a chance to interact regularly and provides an opportunity to shine the spotlight on some different workers.
3. Send managers updates
Some companies send managers and supervisors regular e-mail updates that cover all of the info and updates that should be communicated down the latter to their staffers.
These updates — which work great in an e-newsletter-type format — serve as checklists of what managers should be discussing with their staffers.
