Oh, those wacky Europeans. Seems a German insurance company got down and dirty with its incentive program for top salesmen.
According to a recent story in the Daily Mail in London, Hamburg Mannheimer rewarded its top 100 reps with a trip to a spa in Budapest in 2007.
The highlight of the trip: An outdoor romp with 20 prostitutes.
And, apparently, this was one well-thought-out extravaganza.
Participants were issued colored wrist bands — as were the hookers.
“The ladies wore red and yellow wrist bands. One group was there as hostesses, and the others were to fulfill any and every desire,” the Mail quotes one attendee as saying.
We’re happy to report that there was special recognition of VIPs: “There were also ladies with white wrist bands. They were reserved for the board and the very best salesmen,” quoth the Mail story.
Somehow, we’re not thinking this kind of incentive plan’s going to catch on over here.
What were they thinking? A new definition of 'pay-for-performance'
