Think a healthy work/life balance is chiefly an issue for female employees? If so, you’d be wrong.
A recent WorldatWork study indicates that both men and women are deeply interested in success both at work and at home.
Some interesting results of the research:
- Flexible work options are on top of the list of most valued options for both men and women
- Financial stress levels are equally high for box sexes; the study recommends employers can reduce the stress through employee assistance programs and offering financial counseling
- Outdated attitudes on the part of managers (“the best employees are the ones who are willing to forego family time for work”) often have a chilling effect on programs designed to foster better work/life balance, and
- Both men and women who’ve taken part in work/life balance programs say they’ve suffered negative workplace consequences for doing so.
