New Plan of Action: How Federal Loan Programs and OSHA Regulations May Affect Your Business
The president recently announced a new COVID-19 Action Plan titled The Path Out of the Pandemic. With detailed specifics on aiding businesses, the plan expands the COVID Economic Injury Disaster Loan program and further streamlines the Paycheck Protection Plan loan forgiveness process.
When it comes to the plan’s guidance on improving vaccination rates and further protecting Americans, there are still a few items left to be settled. The Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is developing a rule that will require all employers with 100 or more employees to ensure their workforce is either fully vaccinated or tested weekly. Qualifying employers could also be required to provide paid time off in certain situations. This is expected to affect over 80 million workers in private sector businesses, and noncompliance could result in significant penalties for employers once the rule is formally issued.
