Earlier this year, we told you the story of the prime minister of Thailand who gave up guest appearances on TV cooking shows when some of his political opponents called it a conflict of interest. Now we can tell you the rest of the story.
A court has forced Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej and his cabinet out of office because the Thai leader appeared on the TV cooking show Tasting and Complaining.
Thailand’s constitution prohibits private employment while in elected office.
Samak is an admitted “foodie” who used to have his own TV show before becoming prime minister.
Despite the court’s ruling, Samak’s party has renominated him as a candidate for prime minister.
The parliament will elect a new PM soon in elections.
