A situation in New Mexico goes to prove, once again, that some employees will post almost anything about work on the Internet.
Two University of New Mexico Hospital employees have been fired for using their cell phone cameras to take photos of patients receiving treatment and then posting them on a social networking Web site.
A hospital spokesman says the photos were posted on an employee’s private MySpace page.
They were mainly close-ups of injuries being treated in the hospital’s emergency room.
The investigation continues. Some other hospital employees have also been disciplined, but not fired.
A hospital supervisor received an anonymous tip about the photos.
The MySpace page could only be accessed by the employee’s friends, not the general public.
The hospital has a policy banning use of cell phone cameras in patient areas.
Police haven’t been involved in the matter.
