How a Career Site Can Improve Recruiting Now | 2-Minute Video

You could probably find more great employees if they could find you first.
And that alone is a good reason to consider a career site dedicated to you. A great career site is an extension of your company website, and it’ll help you stand out from all the other jobs like yours listed on the major sites such LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor and ZipRecruiter.

You know the drill: Post a job on a popular career site, get flooded with applications and get frustrated.
All too often, HR pros get overwhelmed with applicants or are underwhelmed with the quality of candidates. In fact, SHRM found that three-quarters of HR pros find it difficult to recruit for their full-time positions.
But it might not need to be that difficult. The HR team at Innovative Renal Care makes recruiting more personal.
But it started with a problem.
Lindsey Dupuis: For us, what wasn’t working was we had no visibility into the process. We needed to be able to start tracking data. So that’s where we started.
They worked with a vendor to create their own career site – part of the company’s web presence where they specifically promote job openings, recruited candidates and boasted careers at the company. But not just that.
Dupuis: We have things like a chatbot where they can interact and ask questions. Or they can get redirected to a recruiter or a team if they don’t know or the chatbot can’t answer their question themselves. And we can collect leads on it.
A company-specific career site can eliminate headaches that come with using the major players. You can build your image and voice. You can manage the recruiting process more tightly. And you can see results.
Dupuis: I’m seeing at least a downward dive in our 90-day turnover. I’ve found that as we’ve been training our managers, they’re giving a clearer role explanation to our interviewers. We’re starting to hire the right people for the right job.
That’s the key – hiring the right people for the right job. And here’s how a career site can get you there:
- Find your pain point. Work with your HR team and hiring managers to pinpoint the bottlenecks in recruiting.
- Build your system. Take what you love about the recruiting sources you use now and add what will make yours more personal.
- Track it. Create baselines. Set new goals and regularly measure performance.
If recruiting is a priority, now might be the time to start building your career site.
