In the business world, we talk about AI so much, there’s a good chance we’re going to get blindsided by some other trend.
But HRMorning won’t let that happen to you. We talked with some experts in the field and asked them what trends will affect HR.
The best part. They’ve cited three very different trends. You can be almost certain that one of these will affect your org.
This first one might be a bitter pill to swallow.
Jess Von Bank, Global Leader of HR Digital Transformation and Technology Advisory, Mercer: I think HR is going to reinvent itself. And there are some really compelling CHROs who will do it. I think we’ll find more executives come from other parts of the business and step into – we won’t call it HR anymore – It’ll be an innovation function. It’ll be a people function, as it should be. But I think HR as we know it – I guess I’m answering it in a different way — I don’t think it’s going to exist.
How about that? HR won’t be HR! Now another view.
John Deal, Senior Director of Product Marketing, Phenom: One of the things we are seeing is a drastic move away from traditional learning because people just don’t have the patience to log on and sit there for an hour and watch a course. And then take eight hours of whatever material. En masse, people are moving away from that and moving toward experiential learning.
Now, from learning to culture.
Dr. Meisha-Ann Martin, VP of People Research, Workhuman: So now, we’re all together in the workplace, and we have to get along. And so I think civility is going to be a really big conversation. I think it’s an opportunity for us to figure out how to respectfully dialogue with people we don’t agree with and I think it’s going to be a great lesson.
So, brace yourself for:
- Innovation. HR needs to be ready to be the lead innovators.
- Learning. Forget the long forms and embrace new experiences.
- Civility. Help rebuild bridges through kindness in the workplace.
